The University of Colorado College of Nursing is seeking a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) for a full-time (1.0 FTE), benefits-eligible, Midwifery Faculty Fellow position with its University Nurse Midwives (UNM) practice in Aurora, CO. This practice position is a 12 month limited appointment spanning from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020. It is full scope including the provision of antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well woman and gynecological care to a diverse population of women seeking midwifery care and includes a Faculty Fellow level, clinical practice track appointment within the College of Nursing.
Midwifery Fellowship (MF) Description:
The Fellowship is open to all CNMs who have been certified within the past 12 months, but have not worked longer than 6 months as a CNM. The MF will work full-time (approximately 4 shifts a week) for UNM. Two shifts a week are in the UNM Outpatient Clinic from 0730-1700, and two are in OBED/Labor and Delivery from 1900-0700, weekdays and weekends. One of the outpatient clinics is a Fellow specific continuity clinic. The OBED shifts are built as an Interprofessional Education rotation where the MF is paired with the Ob/Gyn Intern in managing night OBED and normal births and is additionally supported by the OB team and CNM. The fellowship also may include 2-weeks, either consecutively or separately, of travel to an international birth center site in Guatemala, or work within the Indian Health Service system. Expenses related to the travel are not covered by the University of Colorado College of Nursing. The MF will have mentorship, along with assigned curriculum, designed to support both learning as a new graduate and involvement in a presentable quality improvement (QI) or midwifery practice project.
Work is performed independently under the general direction and authority of the UNM Director, within the College of Nursing (CON) faculty practices, and the Associate Dean for Community and Clinical Affairs. In addition, the MF is supervised by the Fellowship Director and Fellowship Coordinator and will have monthly meetings with a primary CNM mentor and a secondary CNM mentor.
